Sparty Post-Mortem

As is my practice, I usually only report ND home games, but the 20-3 victory at East Lansing over Michigan State was delicious.

Let’s hope this is the start of something great and we will all remember  Brian Kelly’s “signature” game as an ND coach.

This is our first 3-0 start since 2002 (Ty) and ND’s first victory over a Top 10 team since 2005. This win propelled the Irish to #11 in the polls and our highest ranking since December 3, 2006.

As we know, the Defense was awesome and young QB Everett Golson seemed to gain confidence with every possession.

If you have not seen already, a great 6:45 recap of our victory over Sparty.

Finally, how proud was every ND alumnus and fan of Manti Te’o for his courageous play and his outstanding presence and poise at the post-game on-field interview?

Manti salutes his loved ones

Speaking of Manti, two quick items:

My SMC Freshman daughter and a gang of gal pals were in Dillon Hall last week (Home of the Big Red). Someone spotted Manti and shyly asked for a picture. Senior Stud #5 was immediately accommodating and gracious to a gaggle of giggling freshmen co-eds.

Also, in respect to Manti, and in tribute to his loved ones,  there is a Student movement on campus to distribute in Hawaian leis for Gameday. Michigan may not have been expecting that intangible “boost.”

Thank you Manti for reprsesenting our University so well.

Onward to Mee-chee-gaan.

Let’s win the State of Michigan and conclude the month of September 4-0!

GO IRISH
